Jim Shuman is Faculty Emeritus at Bellevue College in Washington, where he taught Flash and Web Development courses, and directed a team of multimedia developers and Web specialists supporting the faculty's use of technology. His industry experience includes website and application development using Flash, as well as managing a team to develop interactive courseware. He has written several textbooks on technology, including ADOBE FLASH CS6 REVEALED. In addition to an MBA, Mr. Shuman holds certification in Adobe Flash.

Excellent book

This was a required book for a comprehensive flash class I took at my local community college. The class was 100% online and this book was the foundation for the class. The book flowed very well and the instructions were very detailed so that it is difficult for the user to get lost. You definately have to have flash CS4 and work along with the book & the exercises to take full advantage of this book. Overall I would recommend this book strongly.

Adobe Flash CS4 Revealed

Bought the book because I needed something quick to teach a class in Flash CS4 which was just downloaded into our computers. I find the book fairly easy to follow and the Skills Review and Project Builders to be interesting. However, it seems as though the instructions might be just a little too difficult for a majority of my students to understand. These are adult students with some experience with design software, but no animation background. They do enjoy the class though, and enjoy creating animated movies!

great learning tool

I've never been disappointed with the "revealed" series. The tutorials are straight foreward and easy to follow. What I like about this book and the reason why it stands out from the rest is it just gets right down to it. No other extra BS for you to read. The extra clips or pictures come with the book or if you happen to buy one without the cd, you can simply get all the data you need because there is a contact site for you to go to and down load the materials.
Here's a tip, if you have cs3,cs4 or cs5 flash..you can still use cs2 revealed to learn the basics and you'll obviously won't see a tutorial on inverse kenimatics cause cs2 or 3 doesn't cover that. In other words, getting a used, older version is just as good the latest version. They pretty much have the same tutorials to teach you the basics of Flash.
However, if you manage to get a later edition especially a hardcover edition, used for less than 5 bucks like I did, then by all means go for it!!!
