Bien el libro de hecho que suma. Es como tener una conversación con alguien que te cuenta una historia. Quizás por eso escala y queda retenida en nuestro sub-consiente. Este libro me ha ayuda afianzar ideas que pensaba que no tenían lógica alguna mas que una simple rebelión informática del por qué hacer esto de tal forma.

Solo en el apartado de estimaciones. Lo concretaría con algo más real, por ejemplo algún caso que nos lleve a imaginarnos una estimación realizado en ese mundo de la agilidad.

A MUST READ for anyone who cooks, wonders about cooking or just loves food!

When I first saw this book I thought the title was quite interesting. After I spent some time in it I was completely amazed! All of us at one time or another have thought, "why does this happen to a certain food" or "why do I like Pot Roast or Hot sauce so much?" These questions are answered on a basic level where anyone can understand. The authors of this book have answered questions that I had but didn't even know how to ask! I have known teachers in elementary school through college that would on occasion tell me questions their students have asked about food and science that they never knew how to answer. They told me most of the time they responded by saying "well thats just how it works." This book answers those questions! It is written in a scientific manner for an MD or phd to read but they bring it down to a level that everyone can understand. My 10 year old patients love what this book says about chocolate chip cookies!! As an MD, I wish I would have had this book as a reference when I was in medical school taking biochemistry. It would have proved to be an excellent resource as well as a time saving one.

Useless For Today's Telescope Owners

Mr. H. Dennis Taylor was an early British pioneer in the design of optical systems. And this book on the adjustment and testing of telescope objectives was considered for a long time to be a classic in its field.
However, today's telescope users will definitely be disappointed in this book. Optical concepts, designs, and terminology have changed so much in the last 100 years that most of this book will be completely irrelevant to today's telescope users. In fact, most of the optical science in this book is so utterly obsolete that even an optical engineer may be hard pressed to discover exactly what Mr. Taylor is talking about.
There is absolutely nothing at all in this book about modern optical coatings, apochromatic refractors, plossl or orthoscopic eyepieces, electrically driven mounts, or digital imaging. The optics and telescopes described here belong in a museum. Mr. Taylor even indulges in a bizarre diatribe criticizing the knife-edge test, which has been a standard optical method ever since the early 1900s. And Taylor's strong pro-British bias ensures that next to nothing is said about any non-British opticians such as the famous German and American telescope makers.
Only historians with a special interest in 19th British century telescopes will have any use for this book. Of much greater value to anyone interested in older telescopes would be "The History of the Telescope" by Henry King, and also "The Telescope" by Louis Bell. "Star Testing of Astronomical Telescopes" by Harold Suiter is the indispensible reference for anyone who wants to test and adjust a modern telescope.

This is the book I've been looking for...

The most comprehensible, in-depth book on the subject of pranayama that I've yet found. Even more informative and accessible than B. K. S. Iyengar's "Light on Pranayama." As it is a more advanced yogic practice, pranayama can be somewhat difficult to explain and even more complicated to perform. Lysebeth has spared no secret and presents the processes involved in a clear, straight-forward manner. No hocus-pocus. Just the facts. This is the book I was looking for on these more advanced yogic practices.

Never thought pranayama would have such an impact on my life

I am a freediver (i dive without bottle). That sport requires an extreme concentration and capacity to handle stress. Pranayama is a known technique to improve diving performances because if you don't panic you will stay longer under water. However when i started to read the book i discovered that pranayama was usefull far beyong the scope of this book. By better controlling my body I came to reduce stress, diminish any pain i could have, be better at presenting courses (I am an IT trainer) and to increase my concentration.
The introduction to the book attemps to link science to yogist technics, but it's badly done and frankly could have been spared.
Fortunately most of the book covers the pranayama technique. The postures, which are illustrated with pictures greatly help to succeed in the technique. Some exercises had powerful effects on me such as lowering my heartbeat, increasing at will of skin temperature, tickeling effects in differents parts of my body or simply helping to fall asleep.
The book has opened a new perspective in my life. It helps me to feel better in my body.
If you have some knowledge on yoga, you can safely buy the book. Else you need to learn some basic postures to effectively make the exercices. You can take some class or buy from the same author "Yoga self Taught".
